Field Service Technician
Greenville, WI
$75,000
CONFIDENTIAL CAREER OPPORTUNITY
Service Technician — Robotics & Automation
Build and own the field service function for a growing, 100% employee-owned integrator
100% Employee-Owned Robotics & Automation Integrator | Midwest | $32–$38/hr + Overtime
WHY THIS MATTERS
You can walk onto a customer's floor, diagnose whether a downed robot is a mechanical failure, an electrical fault, or a programming issue — and have them back up before anyone starts panicking. You've been doing that for years, for a company where none of that expertise builds equity for you. Our client is 100% employee-owned. That changes the math entirely.
ROLE AT A GLANCE
Title: Service Technician
Territory: Midwest focus; customer sites across the U.S. and Canada
Reports To: Sales and Service Account Manager
Location: Fox River Region, WI
Travel: 70–75% — overnight and extended customer site support required; all expenses covered
Structure: Full-time, direct hire — founding member of a dedicated aftermarket service function
THE COMPANY
Our client is a robotic systems integrator with a decades-long track record delivering packaging automation, material handling, and line integration to manufacturers across flat glass, consumer goods, food, pharmaceutical, and metals industries. Their installed base spans the U.S. and Canada. Their reputation is built on technical depth and the ability to stand behind what they build — not just through installation, but long after the project closes.
This role exists because the company is expanding its aftermarket service capability — not backfilling. Today, installation technicians and controls engineers absorb all service requests, which keeps the team reactive. Dedicated service resources change that. The plan is two service technicians operating at capacity by early 2027. This hire is the foundation of that group.
Here's what makes the culture worth taking seriously: this is a 100% employee-owned company, part of an ESOP-holding group. You are not working for shareholders you'll never meet — you are an owner from day one. The leadership team describes it simply: they all win together. The structure makes that literal.
"Sales sells the first project. The service team sells the next 10." — President
WHAT YOU'LL OWN
Own field response for aftermarket service — troubleshooting, maintenance, repairs, and evaluations on ABB and FANUC robotic cells, end-of-arm tooling, conveyors, and associated automation equipment
Build direct relationships with long-tenured customers and become the trusted technical resource they call when something goes wrong
Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and controls issues on your own — you'll have backup, but you won't need babysitting
Define what good looks like for service documentation, root cause analysis, and customer follow-up as this function is built from the ground up
Feed field learnings back to the engineering and manufacturing teams — your experience in the field makes the next installation better before it ships
THE COMPENSATION PACKAGE
Base Rate: $32–$35/hr; stretch to $38/hr for the right background
Overtime: Paid hourly — at 70%+ travel, OT is real and adds meaningful income above base
Bonus / Incentive: Not a bonus-structured role; compensation is hourly + OT
Ownership / Equity: ESOP participant from day one — 100% employee-owned company; equity built over time, not tied to options or grants
Health Benefits: PPO (Family): ~$580/month out-of-pocket | HSA (Family): ~$200/month out-of-pocket; dental and vision included
Retirement: 401(k) with competitive matching
Travel & Tools: All field travel expenses covered; tools and test equipment provided
WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR
If you can walk onto a customer's floor cold, size up a downed robot in under an hour, and walk the customer through what's wrong and what it takes to fix it — without needing someone to tell you how to do any of that — this was written for you.
3+ years in field service, robotics, industrial automation, or maintenance — hands-on, not classroom; integrator or machine builder background is a strong plus
Strong mechanical AND electrical troubleshooting — you know the difference between a programming fault and a failed drive, and you act accordingly without waiting for an engineer
ABB or FANUC robot experience is a meaningful advantage; Allen-Bradley PLC familiarity is valuable; vision systems, servos, and drives are a bonus
A communicator first, technician second — you write clear service reports, update customers proactively, and know when to escalate versus when to solve it yourself
Self-directed and ownership-minded — you take pride in your work, share what you know, and thrive in a team environment; lone wolves and those too smart to collaborate don't last here
THE PATH FORWARD
First 90 days: onboard, learn the company's processes and standards, and build first-touch relationships with long-tenured customers. By month 12, the benchmark is a service calendar running at 75% capacity or better — which is the signal to bring on technician #2. You will have a direct voice in how that role is defined and who fills it.
Longer term: the service function is the company's relationship engine. As it matures, there is a clear path toward senior technician, field service lead, or a hybrid technical/account role for candidates who want that exposure. This company promotes from within and is building this team with that intention.
