Field Sales Engineer - Northeast
South East
$100,000 - $135,000
CONFIDENTIAL CAREER OPPORTUNITY
Field Sales Engineer
Northeast Territory, Direct With the Manufacturer
Global Collaborative Robotics Manufacturer | Major metro with airport access (Boston, Philadelphia, or Hartford) | $175K–$200K+ OTE
THE HOOK
You sell cobots. You are technically sharp, you know the applications, and you have hit your number, but you are doing it for a company whose product line has a ceiling, or you are with a distributor and do not own the relationship with the manufacturer. Our client, a global collaborative robotics manufacturer, is retiring a thin, wide-coverage sales model in favor of dedicated regional ownership. This Field Sales Engineer role owns the Northeast end to end, direct accounts, distributor relationships, and system integrator partnerships, with an existing book of business and pipeline that comes with the seat.
ROLE AT A GLANCE
Title: Field Sales Engineer
Territory: Roughly North Carolina to Maine, with the heaviest current activity in Maine, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, and Massachusetts
Reports To: Channel Manager, Americas
Location: Major metro with airport access (Boston, Philadelphia, or Hartford)
Travel: Up to 50% (roughly 10 nights a month; mostly drivable day trips and short two to three day trips)
Structure: Remote, reporting into a US commercial team
THE COMPANY
Our client is a global collaborative robotics manufacturer built from the ground up on in-house engineering. Its cobots are known in the industry for hardware safety and reliability, including some of the higher payload applications on the market, and the platform now includes an in-house-developed, productized palletizing solution sold through distribution partners.
The US organization is moving away from a model where a handful of people covered enormous, thinly staffed territories. It is standing up dedicated regional Field Sales Engineers who own a defined patch end to end, inherit active pipeline and distributor relationships on day one, and are expected to build from there.
Manufacturers are adopting cobots faster than at any point in recent years, driven by labor shortages, high turnover, and corporate automation mandates. Leadership's own read on the ceiling: the company could grow many times its current size and still not be the largest player in a market that keeps expanding, especially as physical AI accelerates adoption further.
"The upside here is real. We are still small in a market that is growing quickly, and this territory is being built, not handed over on cruise control. I want someone who drives their own business. This will be their territory to run, and I am not here to micromanage." — Channel Manager, Americas
WHAT YOU'LL OWN
A defined US territory with an existing book of business and active pipeline handed to you on day one, not built from a blank page
The distributor relationships that drive the largest share of near-term revenue, including the salespeople inside those partner organizations who already know your product
Every pre-sale technical conversation in your territory: discovery calls, site visits, and the judgment call on which applications are a real fit
A direct line into an Applications Engineering team that picks up anything requiring more than about fifteen minutes of technical depth
The forecasting and market intelligence that shapes how the broader US sales organization plans its next moves
THE COMPENSATION PACKAGE
Base Salary: $100,000–$135,000 (flexibility for advanced technical background)
Total OTE: $175,000–$200,000+
Commission: Individual commission on closed revenue
Company Bonus: Company performance bonus on top of individual commission
Medical / Dental / Vision: Included
401(k): Company match included
Disability Coverage: Included
Cell Phone: Provided
PTO / Schedule: Paid time off, flexible schedule
WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR
If you have carried a bag in automation or robotics, know the difference between a good cobot application and a bad one without needing an engineer in the room, and want a territory that is actually yours, this was written for you.
Five or more years of B2B sales experience in automation, robotics, or industrial systems, with real quota attainment behind you
A technical background, whether an engineering degree or hands on experience, strong enough to lead a pre-sale application discussion without backup
A track record selling through both direct accounts and channel partners such as distributors or system integrators
Comfortable building a pipeline, not just servicing one that is handed to you; this territory rewards someone who keeps generating new opportunities
Based in or willing to be based in the Northeast, ideally in a major metro with airport access
THE PATH FORWARD
In the first year, the priority is straightforward: master the full collaborative robotics product lineup, convert inherited pipeline into closed revenue, and turn warm distributor relationships into active, co-selling partnerships. Candidates who do this well are running a territory that looks meaningfully different, in both pipeline size and distributor engagement, than the one they started with.
Beyond that, the trajectory tracks the company's own growth. As the US team scales, including more applications engineering support and an expanding product line, the person who built a territory from the ground up is the natural candidate for broader scope, and eventually a management layer as the region matures.
