Field Sales Engineer - Southeast

CONFIDENTIAL SIZZLE BRIEF
Field Sales Engineer | East Coast Territory | Collaborative Robotics

THE HOOK
You sell cobots. You're technically sharp, you know the applications, and you've hit your number. But you're doing it for a company whose product line has a ceiling — in payload, reach, or application depth — and you've felt it in front of a customer. Or you're with a distributor and you don't own the relationship with the manufacturer. Or the brand you're carrying simply isn't investing in what's next.

Our client is one of the world's largest cobot manufacturers — a full product lineup spanning five distinct series, deployed in 50+ countries, trusted by global manufacturers including automotive OEMs, consumer electronics giants, and luxury brands. And they are now aggressively building their US presence with direct Field Sales Engineers who own East Coast territory end-to-end.

If you've been looking for the manufacturer — not the middleman — this is the call to take.

ROLE AT A GLANCE
Title: Field Sales Engineer
Territory: East Coast (Boston, Atlanta, or similar major metro)
Reports To: Director of Sales
Customer Base: End users, key accounts, distributors, system integrators
Work Structure: Remote — preferred location near major airport
Travel: Up to 50%
Why It's Open: US expansion — building the direct sales team

THE COMPANY
Our client is a global leader in collaborative robotics — one of the largest cobot manufacturers in the world, with a product lineup spanning five distinct series engineered for everything from high-payload palletizing to precision assembly and machine tending. Their cobots are deployed across 50+ countries, trusted by some of the most recognized names in automotive, consumer electronics, food manufacturing, and aerospace. The platform is built on industry-leading safety architecture, an intuitive programming experience, and a growing suite of AI-powered capabilities in active development.

The US operation is headquartered in Philadelphia and is in the middle of a significant growth phase. The organization is investing in direct sales infrastructure, applications engineering, and technical support — building the kind of in-country presence that enterprise manufacturers demand before they standardize on a platform.

This is not a distributor relationship or a franchise arrangement. This is the manufacturer, selling direct, with a team that has access to the global R&D organization and can influence the product roadmap based on what they see in the field.

The market tailwind is real. US manufacturers across Automotive, Food & Beverage, and Aerospace are accelerating automation adoption to close labor gaps and increase throughput. Cobot applications that were pilots two years ago are now production-scale deployments. Our client is positioned at the center of that shift — with the product line, the backing, and the engineering depth to win.

"We have great technology, clever people to invent ways to use it, a customer base that is engaged and wanting novel solutions, and a market segment critical to the success of American manufacturing — and it's growing rapidly." — Director of Sales

• End-user relationships with key accounts in Automotive, Food & Beverage, and Aerospace — building long-term partnerships, not one-time transactions

• Channel development with distributors and system integrators — advancing joint opportunities, providing application support, and keeping deals moving

• Pre-sale technical engagement: leading discovery calls, site visits, and solution alignment so customers understand exactly where and how a cobot fits their operation

• Proposal execution — ROI-based presentations and value-driven proposals delivered to plant managers, VPs of Production, and engineering decision-makers

• Pipeline accuracy — CRM hygiene, forecasting, and market intelligence that informs the broader US sales strategy

WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR
You've sold automation or robotics in a B2B environment for at least five years and you have the technical fluency to lead a discovery session without leaning on an applications engineer to carry the conversation. You understand how cobots fit into real production environments — payload, reach, cycle time, safety zones — and you can translate that into ROI language for a plant manager and spec language for an engineering team in the same meeting.

Who Thrives Here:

• 5+ years of B2B sales in automation, robotics, or industrial systems — with verifiable quota attainment

• Engineering degree or equivalent hands-on technical background — comfortable leading pre-sale application discussions independently

• Experience with cobots, end-of-arm tooling, vision systems, or integrated automation cells

• Track record selling through both direct accounts and channel partners (distributors and/or system integrators)

• Demonstrated success in Automotive, Food & Beverage, or Aerospace — you know the buyers and the buying process

• Self-directed and disciplined — this role has real autonomy and requires someone who generates their own momentum

• East Coast-based, near a major airport, available to travel up to 50%

Who Should Pass:

• Candidates who rely on price as their primary lever — this is value-based selling against labor and downtime costs

• Anyone who needs a support team to build their pipeline — territory ownership is real here

• Passive operators who wait for inbound — cobot adoption still requires a compelling case, and the FSE has to make it

THE PATH FORWARD
The US direct sales build is underway, which means the FSE who establishes the East Coast territory now becomes the institutional expert for that market. As the US headcount scales — more applications engineering, expanded product lines, AI-enabled cobot solutions coming to market — the person who built the territory is positioned for increased responsibility and leadership.

The 90-Day Ramp:

• Master the full cobot lineup across all five series and the applications where each excels

• Engage existing warm leads in territory and convert at least one near-term opportunity

• Build active relationships with key distributors and system integrators on the East Coast
