Commissioning Engineer - Abliene - Oracle

Position Summary

The Commissioning Engineer will lead and execute the commissioning process for Tier 1 through Tier 5 mission critical infrastructure on the Oracle Stargate Project in Abilene, TX. This is a premier hyperscale build and one of the most significant data center construction projects in the country. You will ensure that all electrical, mechanical, controls, and life safety systems are installed correctly, functionally tested, and integrated to perform at full operational capacity before handover to the owner.

Key Responsibilities

•       Develop and execute commissioning plans, scripts, and procedures for critical power, cooling, fire protection, BMS/EPMS, and life safety systems

•       Perform Level 1 through Level 5 commissioning activities including installation verification (IV), pre-functional testing, functional performance testing (FPT), and integrated systems testing (IST)

•       Lead string testing of electrical distribution from utility feed through medium voltage switchgear, transformers, UPS systems, PDUs, and rack level power

•       Commission mechanical systems including chilled water plants, CRAH/CRAC units, cooling towers, and hot/cold aisle containment systems

•       Coordinate with construction managers, MEP subcontractors, and controls integrators to resolve punch items and system deficiencies prior to testing

•       Manage the commissioning schedule and ensure testing sequences align with overall construction milestones and phased turnover plans

•       Oversee BMS and EPMS point-to-point verification, alarm testing, and trend data validation

•       Document all test results, deviations, and corrective actions in commissioning logs and turnover packages

•       Participate in failure mode and effects testing (FMET) and integrated operations testing under various failure scenarios

•       Support owner readiness reviews and operational handover for each data hall and supporting infrastructure

Qualifications & Requirements

•       2+ years of commissioning experience on mission critical data center projects or battery/energy storage facility construction

•       Prior hyperscale data center commissioning experience strongly preferred (AWS, Oracle, Meta, Microsoft, Google)

•       Expert level knowledge of critical power distribution, emergency generator systems, UPS topologies, and ATS/STS transfer schemes

•       Strong understanding of mechanical cooling systems, controls integration, and building automation platforms

•       Familiarity with ASHRAE Guideline 0, NETA testing standards, and NFPA 70E arc flash safety requirements

•       Experience developing and executing commissioning scripts, test procedures, and integrated systems testing plans

•       Proficiency with commissioning management tools (Cx Alloy, Procore, or similar platforms)

•       Excellent communication skills for coordinating between multiple trades, GC teams, and owner representatives

•       OSHA 30 certification required

•       NETA Level II/III, CxA (BCxA/ACG), or PE licensure are a plus

•       Able to work on site full time in Abilene, TX
