Engineering Manager, Platform Engineering / Platform Engineering Lead

Our client, a leading global law firm, is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead and grow the team behind its internal developer platform. This is an opportunity to own the roadmap, delivery, and technical direction for a platform supporting both conventional software and AI systems firm-wide, balancing hands-on technical leadership with the development of a high-performing engineering team. This role is based in New York City or Washington, D.C.

What You'll Be Doing

• Leading, coaching, and developing a team of platform engineers

• Owning the Platform Engineering roadmap and translating strategy into scoped engineering work

• Reviewing designs and code, guiding architecture, and making technical trade-offs

• Holding accountability for platform reliability, SLOs, incident management, and on-call health

• Extending platform standards to AI systems, including evaluations and release processes

• Managing vendor relationships, budgets, licensing, and SLAs

About You

• 12+ years of experience in platform, DevOps, SRE, or software engineering

• 4+ years managing and developing engineering teams

• Strong hands-on engineering background in coding, infrastructure as code, and cloud prior to management

• Solid technical grounding across Go/Python, CI/CD, IaC/GitOps, and cloud platforms (AWS/Azure)

• Experience delivering internal developer platforms in a global professional services or regulated environment
