Head of Marketplaces

About the Company

Our client is a fast-growing DTC brand in the pet health space. The client operates at real scale, moves fast, and expects the people on the team to take full ownership of their work.

Role Overview

This is a remote Head of Marketplaces role. This person will own the strategy, growth, and day to day performance of every marketplace channel the client sells on, Amazon first and foremost, plus Walmart, Chewy, and a maintenance level presence on TikTok Shop. Amazon is where the growth focus sits right now.

This is a hands-on operating role. This person personally owns account health, catalog, pricing, and every listing issue through to resolution, directing the PPC manager, design team, finance support, and Amazon agency around them rather than sitting above the work.

Responsibilities

- Marketplace ownership: Own account health, compliance, catalog management, listings, pricing, and promotions across every marketplace, and follow every issue through to resolution personally.

- Commercial performance: Monitor and improve revenue, contribution margin, profitability by marketplace and SKU, advertising performance, conversion, organic rank, and inventory availability.

- Growth planning: Build marketplace forecasts, budgets, and growth plans that balance revenue growth against profitability.

- Advertising leadership: Set commercial objectives and budgets with the PPC manager and hold them accountable for ROAS, ACOS, TACOS, and profitable growth.

- Creative direction: Brief and approve listing images, A+ Content, storefronts, and launch creative from the design team.

- Cross functional partnership: Work alongside finance support, a colleague on operations, and the Amazon agency, and coordinate with the Customer Support team on service issues while keeping catalog, compliance, and listing ownership.

- Logistics coordination: Partner with the VP of Logistics on inventory, launch plans, promotion schedules, and demand risk, while staying accountable for marketplace availability and performance.

- Weekly reporting: Build and deliver a weekly Marketplace Report to the COO covering revenue, ad performance, inventory risk, account health, active launches, and priorities for the week ahead.

Who They're Looking For

- Has owned Amazon at the account level, not just run ads on it, and ideally has Walmart, Chewy, or TikTok Shop experience too.

- Comfortable owning P&L level metrics: revenue, contribution margin, and profitability by marketplace and SKU.

- Has directed a PPC manager and held them accountable for ROAS, ACOS, and TACOS.

- Can brief and approve creative and content from a design team with a clear point of view.

- A strong operator who resolves account health, compliance, and listing issues personally rather than escalating them away.

- Coordinates well with logistics, finance, and operations partners without needing to own their execution.

- A clear, structured communicator who can turn a week of performance into a report leadership can act on.

- Can run the department independently, making commercially sound calls without daily oversight.
