Position Summary
We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to focus on new product development. This role is responsible for designing and developing innovative products, ensuring optimal functionality, and contributing to the continuous improvement of engineering processes. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to bring new products from concept to production.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop innovative new products for agricultural equipment.

  • Apply problem-solving and critical thinking skills to identify and resolve design issues.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet project timelines and maintain quality standards.

  • Conduct research and analysis to evaluate the feasibility, performance, and cost-effectiveness of design concepts.

  • Create detailed technical documentation, including specifications, drawings, and test plans.

  • Configure products for sales orders and produce associated drawings and Bills of Materials (BOMs).

  • Review and process engineering changes through proper change management (ECRs, ECOs, ECNs).

  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of company design standards and procedures.

  • Peer review models, drawings, and BOMs, providing guidance to junior engineers.

  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and technological advancements to enhance design practices.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Technologist diploma.

  • Minimum 7 years of experience in engineering design and development of complex products, preferably in heavy industry.

  • New product development experience is required.

  • Registered as a P.Eng or ASCT is preferred.

  • Proficiency with 3D CAD systems, preferably Autodesk Inventor and Vault.

  • Strong problem-solving and 3D conceptualization abilities.

  • Excellent communication skills, capable of presenting designs to stakeholders at multiple levels.

  • Intermediate to advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.).

  • Knowledge of GD&T standards and weld specifications.

  • Experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
