Our client is a boutique creative technology company supporting high-end visual content production for clients across film, television, advertising, and digital media. With a strong reputation for technical excellence and innovation, the team is looking for an experienced IT professional to help scale and optimize the infrastructure that powers its production environment.
We're looking for a Senior IT Specialist to join the team! In this role, you'll take ownership of the organization's production technology infrastructure while driving improvements across systems, workflows, and automation. This is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact within a highly collaborative, technically sophisticated environment where reliability, efficiency, and continuous improvement are key.
What you'll do:
Own and maintain core IT infrastructure, including networking, storage, backups, and system availability
Administer production systems, render infrastructure, licensing, and workstation deployment across Windows, Linux, and macOS environments
Manage NAS environments, archival workflows, and backup solutions to ensure data integrity and performance
Identify opportunities to improve production workflows through automation, process optimization, and emerging AI technologies
Troubleshoot technical issues across infrastructure and production systems while supporting day-to-day studio operations
Document systems, establish best practices, and contribute to the long-term scalability and reliability of the IT environment
What we're looking for:
5+ years of experience managing IT infrastructure, preferably within a VFX, animation, post-production, media, or other creative production environment
Strong knowledge of networking, enterprise storage, and Windows, Linux, and macOS administration
Hands-on experience supporting production pipelines and creative technology environments
Experience with technologies such as Deadline, Baselight, Nuke, Flame, Redshift, NAS administration, LTO archival, or MDM platforms
Proven ability to improve workflows through automation, systems optimization, and emerging technologies
Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and communication skills with the ability to work independently and proactively
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
Nice to have:
Experience supporting VFX, animation, post-production, or other high-performance creative production environments
Exposure to AI-powered workflow automation or production tooling
Experience documenting infrastructure and developing IT best practices
Ability to work in a hybrid environment with availability to be on-site in downtown Toronto within 30 minutes during working hours
