Platform Engineering Manager

Role Summary

The Platform Engineering Manager will lead the engineering teams responsible for building, automating, and operating a modern enterprise data platform within complex client environments.

This is a true player-coach role—combining hands-on technical leadership with people management—focused on driving automation, scalability, reliability, and operational excellence across global deployments. The role oversees Platform Engineering, DevOps, and DataOps functions to ensure all environments meet performance, compliance, and uptime expectations.

Core Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and grow Platform Engineering, DevOps, and DataOps teams responsible for deploying and operating enterprise data environments.

• Define and implement infrastructure-as-code standards and CI/CD pipelines to enable consistent, repeatable deployments.

• Partner closely with architecture leadership to translate solution designs into executable engineering plans.

• Drive environment readiness across pre-production, UAT, and production, aligned with enterprise change management processes.

• Establish and monitor SLAs, uptime targets, and performance KPIs.

• Ensure strong security posture, including IAM, authentication integration, and compliance controls.

• Oversee patching, upgrades, and lifecycle management of open-source platform components.

• Lead incident response, root-cause analysis, and postmortems to drive continuous improvement.

• Support architecture governance forums and contribute to technical documentation and standards.

Ideal Background

• 8–12 years of experience leading platform, infrastructure, DevOps, or SRE teams supporting large-scale data platforms.

• Strong hands-on engineering background with the ability to lead by example.

• Experience operating at scale in hybrid or cloud-based enterprise environments.

• Proven success building and mentoring globally distributed teams.

• Deep understanding of enterprise deployment, observability, reliability, and operational excellence practices.
