Internal Tools Developer
Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada
$100,000 - $150,000
Our client is a fast-growing, VC-backed tech startup based in Winnipeg — a Y Combinator alumni and one of the fastest-growing companies in Canada. They've built proprietary AI and computer vision technology that watches live TV and automatically delivers contextually-aware commercials, content, and games to bars and restaurants across North America. With a team of ~80–90 people in Winnipeg and a rapidly expanding partner network, they're looking to sharpen the sales infrastructure behind the growth.
The role
This is a unique position sitting at the intersection of software engineering, process improvement, and product thinking. You'll embed directly with internal teams to understand how they work, identify where they're slowing down, and build the tools and automations that unblock them — solo, start to finish, with real ownership.
This role has clear growth opportunities. If you want visible, tangible impact and hate being handed tickets, this is the role.
Example projects you'd work on
Lead generation scrapers targeting specific venue types for the sales team
LLM-powered email triage tools that identify common inbound questions and surface templated responses
Partner onboarding automations to help account managers get new partners up and running faster
Internal dashboards and reporting tools that teams actually use
What you'll do
Embed with internal teams to understand workflows, surface inefficiencies, and identify automation opportunities
Scope, design, and build custom software solutions that make teams faster and more effective
Integrate solutions with AI/LLM tooling, external APIs, CRMs, and internal platforms
Manage your own project timelines and set realistic expectations with stakeholders
Continuously evaluate available tools — AI, automation platforms, data management — to find best-fit solutions
Maintain solutions that are secure, performant, and built to scale
What we're looking for
3+ years of software development experience with a track record of building and shipping real tools — we care more about what you've built than how long you've been building
Self-starter with an ownership mentality — you identify problems before you're asked to and see projects through without being managed
Strong product and analytical thinking — able to translate messy, undefined problems into clear scoped solutions
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills; comfortable running discovery sessions with non-technical teams
Hands-on experience integrating with APIs, CRMs, and third-party services
Familiarity with AI/LLM tooling (e.g., OpenAI, Anthropic, LangChain) — you know what's out there and when it's the right tool for the job
Broad technical knowledge — you know when to build vs. when to buy
Nice to haves
Experience with automation platforms (Zapier, Make, n8n)
Familiarity with CRM systems (Salesforce, HubSpot)
Experience with web scraping, data pipelines, or workflow automation tools
Background in business operations, sales, or customer success workflows
Experience building internal dashboards or admin tooling
Stack
JavaScript / TypeScript / React
AI/LLM APIs
Salesforce / HubSpot integrations
Zapier / Make / n8n
AWS (S3, CloudFront)

Bash / scripting
They are pretty tool/tech agnostic — you will ultimately decide what's best for the job.
