Fintech Startup Full Stack Software Engineer
New York City, NY
$200,000 - $225,000
A well-funded, pre-launch NYC wealthtech startup is building something the wealth management industry has never seen. Backed by a founding team with Goldman Sachs and Fidelity pedigree, $250M in committed AUM from day one, and a second funding round on the way. Employee 12 or 13. The platform is not built yet. The decisions being made right now will define this product for the next decade.
This is not a role for someone looking to coast. You will own the architecture, challenge assumptions, and figure out 80% of any problem yourself. You are not an order-taker.
The centerpiece of this role is the AI agent layer. Not a chatbot. A fully contextualized financial agent with complete knowledge of the client, their assets, family profile, tax situation, and cash position, capable of answering complex planning questions in real time. The complexity is in the business logic and the orchestration. That is the hard part.
What You Will Build
- LLM-based agents and agentic workflows coordinating tool use, retrieval, and business logic into reliable and observable pipelines
- Client-facing and internal React applications with considered decisions on component design, state management, and performance
- Python services and a Postgres data model built for complex real-time advisory workflows
- Architecture designed for a three-to-five year horizon, not the next sprint
Who You Are
- You ask why before you ask how
- You have built production AI agents and have opinions on LangGraph, OpenAI Agents SDK, Anthropic Claude Agent SDK, or Pydantic AI
- You understand prompt architecture, context management, RAG, and the failure modes that do not show up in demos
- You hold a high bar for maintainability. You write code that can be supported in five years
- You have worked at a smaller, faster company. You know what it means to own something end to end
- You are on the way up, not looking for a place to coast
The Stack
Python, React, TypeScript, Postgres. One .NET service. Heavy AI tooling throughout.
Compensation
Base plus equity. Details upon introduction. This is not hedge fund cash. It is a meaningful equity stake in something early, well-funded, and built to win a very large market.
